Tonight’s Lineup
So, we got a $100 gift card for looking at some property. Can you guess what we bought with it? Correct! I’m going to post tonights’ offerings. Let me know how you feel about my choices, and I’ll be back later with updates.
Starting off with A to Z Pinot Gris form Oregon. It’s interesting and it was on sale.
Moving on to Martin Codax Albarino. Really smooth Spanish stuff. It makes me giddy.
As a Transition, I’m going with Georges Duboeuf’s Beaujolais. Kinda like Thanksgiving.
The ending of my book was set in Spain, so I’m trying a Chianti by a name I trust Ruffino.
OK, I know that’s plenty of wine for us, but it’s discounted if you buy six, so we picked up two bottles of Oyster Bay Savignon Blanc from New Zealand. It’s really good stuff. My favorite non-French white at the moment. I just heard Josh moan all the way from Ohio.
This serves as a warning that there will probably be incoherent ramblings posted in the morning, followed by a day of silence from me. I should be good on Monday. Have a great weekend. I plan to!

I hate to be picky (again) but check that spelling on the Martin Codax. A good wine though, as tried and tested at Riojas many times. I bought one today, as well as a new to me Prosecco that looks like a Guiness bottle with a beer-bottle type cap that I have never seen before. I like to try at least two new wines per week.
Anyone any thoughts on bottle closures? I hear corks are about to make a big comeback as they’ve made a process breakthrough in Portugal.

We had a poptop desert wine at a tasting at RenFest that wasn’t half bad. I can’t remember much about it, except that it was the last wine we tried and it was really sweet. Good luck with your bubbles, we’ll probably have some in the morning in the form of mimosas. By the way, we found a sparkling Pinot Grigio! Haven’t tried it yet, but we can’t hold out too long.

I really don’t like the screwcaps. It’s not how wine is supposed to be. It detracts from the experience.

Chianti is from Italy.
I think all wine should be made with screwcaps, but it might affect the aging. People are testing this, apparently.
LOL, I’m not moaning. Sauv is what New Zealand does best! I don’t know that one.
@Chieftain - Get off the spelling already. I also have seen the bottle cap thing on Prosecco, maybe it was the same one. I didn’t like it (the cap). I was scared.

I am not a fan of screw tops either, but they are quite handy when in a situation without a corkscrew. However, after being in Vegas with Johnny Wino and witnessing what I have dubbed his “white trash corkscrew” it proved the cliche that where there’s a will, there’s a way.
I even spell checked my comment! HA!

You mentioned something about A-Z of wines and that made me think: “Good Idea” why not drink the alphabet! So you could have 26 sessions. Session A: All Awful Alcohol with an A. Session B: Boozing begins with bloody beer. Session C: well, you’ve got the idea. In successive sessions you drink wines starting with A and move steady (or unsteadily) along the alphabet.
With a little effort you could manage this in a boring month like February. Or space it out over 6 months (one session per week). Or even 2+ years by having a month of A’s, followed by the B’s and so on. I’m sure Z would be a challenge - but that’d help you sober up as you approach the finish line of the Wino’s Marathon.

Yes, wel it’s much more importent whut kind of closure a bottel has rather then whats’ in the bottel. Just like its’ much more importent that you spell you’re shit corectly then wat you actulaly sey.
